Se obișnuia să se trimită două invitații la o petrecere:
Prima, pentru a anunța evenimentul.
În istoria lui Israel, invitația lui Dumnezeu a venit prin Moise și profeți - unul dintre ei a fost Daniel, sărbătorit pe 17 decembrie.
Daniel a fost dus captiv din Ierusalim în Babilon în 605 înainte de Hristos de regele Nebucadnețar, urmat de regele Belșațar.
Darius Mediul a cucerit Babilonul, iar Daniel a devenit cel mai de încredere sfătuitor al său, dar a fost condamnat să moară într-o groapă de lei flămânzi pentru că a continuat să se roage Domnului său Suveran.
Dumnezeu l-a salvat, închizând gurile leilor (Daniel, 6).
Dumnezeu este suveran. El a fost în control în Babilon și El este și aici, acum, controlînd destinele oamenilor.
Așa cum stăpânul din poveste și-a trimis slujitorul pe străzi pentru a-i invita pe cei nevoiași la ospăț, tot așa Dumnezeu a trimis pe Fiul Său Iisus în întreaga lume a oamenilor nevoiași, pentru a le spune că împărăția lui Dumnezeu a sosit.
Servitorul a raportat că toți s-au scuzat, iar gazda a spus: „Ieși în stradă și adu la cina mea pe oricine vei găsi”!

It was customary to send two invitations to a party:
The first, to announce the event.
In Israel's history, God's invitation came through Moses and the prophets - one of them was Daniel, celebrated on 17th December.
Daniel was taken captive from Jerusalem to Babilon in 605 before Christ by King Nebuchadnezzar, followed by King Belshazzar.
Darius the Mede conquered the Babilon and Daniel became his most trusted adviser, but was condemned to die in a den of hungry lions because he continued to pray to his Soverein Lord.
God saved him, shutting the mouths of the lions (Daniel, 6).
God is soverein.
He was in control in Babilon, and He is here now, controlling the destinies of people.
The religious leaders of Israel accepted the first call, but they insulted God by refusing the second call through His Son.
As the master in the story sent his servant into the streets to invite the needy to the banquet, so God sent his Son Jesus to the whole world of needy people, to tell them that God's kingdom had arrieved.
The servant reported that all had excused themselves and the host said :"Go out to the streets and bring in to my dinner party anyone you happen to find"!
